Water
Primary schools can request a FREE education pack
including posters, booklets, worksheets and two CD ROMS. There is
also a downloadable science pack aimed at KS2. Click on "Yorkshire
Water" and then "Education".
Food Standards
Agency
Produce a wide range of publications, many of these
are available FREE of charge and many are printed
in community languages. A sub-section of this site www.eatwell.gov.ukis
more specifically focussed on helping people to make healthier choices
and includes interactive games about healthy eating and food safety.
British
Nutrition Foundation
This site is an excellent source of information on all nutrition
matters. Search on "Publications" and you will see the
resources that are offered. There is a whole section on "Education
Resources" including videos and CD ROMS nb these are NOT free.
Click on "Education" on the home page and then on "Teacher
Centre" to find lots of classroom resources such as 27 worksheets,
posters, presentations etc.
The British Heart Foundation
Choose "Young People" from the main menu. You will then
be able to choose to look at resources relating to under or over
11 year olds. There are links to games, resources and teaching materials.
The Artie Beat Club is a particularly good resource for children
aged 7 - 11. A whole class can join the club together and receive
stickers, a newsletter and five a day fridge chart.

Fruit & Salad Seasonality Chart Vegetable Seasonality Chart
The charts indicate when UK fruit and vegetables are available,
and distinguish between those periods when produce is
available and when it is likely to be available at a lower price due to higher levels of production and lower input costs, this roughly equates to the traditional notion of seasonality.
Breakfast Clubs
Breakfast Club Plus UK network that supports Breakfast clubs. There is lots of advice and free resources available.
School Food Trust
The School Food Trust was established by the Department for Education and Skills in September 2005. Its remit is to transform school food and food skills, promote the education and health of children and young people and improve the quality of food in schools. |
