Teacher accreditation in PSHE education

This is a one year programme designed to recognize the excellence of PSHE education teaching in the classroom. It is managed by the Department for Health and the DCSF.

The programme starts in September through to the following June. Participants have to be teachers of PSHE education and develop a portfolio of evidence set against certain standards. Once accredited, teachers will have national recognition for the knowledge, understanding and skills in PSHE education.

Teachers are supported through the process by the school improvement officer and the school improvement consultant for PSHE education. This support is made up of 3.5 days out of school (cover paid) and mentoring.

School nurses can also go though the same accreditation process.
