Kirklees Catering Service has its very own website.

The site is full of school meal information including:

all primary school menus
healthy eating games
latest news
competitions
teachers resource package for KS1 and KS2 pupils

Teachers wishing to use these resources need a password which is 'vegetable'.

All downloads are free.

It's a fun site to visit. Many children have commented that it is easy to use, easy to navigate and full of fun.

They will be able to inform you of who to contact specifically for your school if you have any catering queries or issues. They can also advise you what support is available to your school in terms of healthy school lunches.

Letters to Parents
Please use this letter as a template to send out to parents at the start of the school year and to reinforce the message to parents on the financial and health benefits of free school meals. To make sure all the pupils that are entitled to free school meals do not miss out, consider:

Copying information from this template in to a school newsletter template as a regular feature to make sure pupils do not miss out!
Copying information regarding the process of free school meals on to the school website
Keep copies of the letter available for parents at the school reception
Send letters to the Parents Teacher Association
Send letters to Local Authority Customer Service centres and ask them to share with parents.
Send letters to your Local Parents Centre(s)
Send out these letters (emails or hard copy) alongside the school newsletter.
