In 2009 there will be changes to the Kirklees Healthy Schools Standard Gold (KHSSG). From March 2009, schools can start to work towards KHSGG, or continue to work towards KHSSG as long as the work is completed before July 2009.
The audit for the KHSSG will be paper based and the online audit is no longer an option.
KHSSG will then become obsolete in July 2009 and from this date, schools can no longer start working towards this award and will not need to revalidate if they have already achieved the award. However, for schools that have achieved KHSSG in the last 3 years, the award remains valid and the schools' achievement will still be recognised.
This decision to discontinue with KHSSG is due to changes in the National Healthy Schools revalidation process and the new process will replace the Kirklees Healthy Schools Standard Gold award. We appreciate that this may be a disappointment to schools, but please be assured that the new revalidation process will allow schools to focus on the most important health related issues in their school. Revalidation creates a more robust and appropriate tool for schools to improve the health of their children, young people, staff and communities and we do not wish to create unnecessary work for schools.
Schools are still welcome to use our Staff Health and Wellbeing questionnaire as this is a useful tool to assess the needs of staff as well as pupils. Click here If you would like access to this and the questionnaire can be downloaded. The Kirklees Healthy Schools Team is happy to collate the information and report back to you. This will save you time and ensures anonymity for your whole staff.
